Guess what we did today? We went to the zoo! Addy was thrilled to find out we were riding the "train" aka DartRail out there.
Daddy wasn't such a fan of the train...
Penguins were first...
We headed to the Giants of the Safari exhibit next...and we ended up spending most of our time there. It is just so cool. :)
The elephant was up first...
Addy was convinced it was "Horton" from her very favorite Dr. Seuss book. She was enamored.
Next up were the giraffes....
Daddy and his girl had a special moment when they got to feed the giraffes. Is it silly to say I actually teared up a tiny bit when I was watching them? They just both looked SO happy. I was overjoyed. :)
We headed to the gorillas next. They were all hiding out, but we found some statues that Addy was pleased with.
We headed to the reptile house next...no pictures...probably because I don't like snakes. Have to tell the funny story of the day though. We went to the cage where the King Cobra was. Of course, as we walk up to the cage, the docile reptile became not so docile and began slithering toward Addy. Her daddy and I were grossed out to say the least, but our girl was not. She got her finger up and started pointing at that King Cobra saying "NO"..."NO"..."NO". She did not want that snake moving towards her. She definately got some laughs!
We left the zoo with one tired girl and two tired parents...but it was so worth it. She had a blast and so did we. (It was so nice to experience the zoo outside of a field trip with my class...I could actually relax a bit and see the animals! Who knew?!)
Best part of the day...she made a new "friend"....

Random happy's...
Some random things that have made me happy this week...
* We got out of school early on Monday due to the power outage...so nice to have an unexpected window of free time.
*We are taking Addy to the zoo tomorrow. This will be her first trip and we are SO excited to see her reaction! She is loving all things animal these days.
*I got called a "MILF" while out walking with Addy and Duke! (For those of you that don't know what it means, google it bc I'm not saying!) My reaction was a combination of offended and flattered...but hey, at least I still got it! ;)
*The Rangers. Nuff said.
*Addy's vocabulary. In the past few weeks, it has really exploded to about 50 words. Her latest favorite is "no". Lawdy! She knows how to use it too!! Although it can be SO frustrating to Dusty and me, I love that this girl is becoming her own little person and knows what she wants and doesn't want. :)
*We finished the 5th six weeks at school this week...6 weeks left!! Woo hoo!!!
*Just got word that my good friend's 18 month old son just made it out of brain surgery successfully. God is good. :)
*The hubs. :-) Makes me happy on a daily basis.

Fill in the blank Friday...with a Flashback :)
1. My most prized possession is:
Material-my wedding band...Dusty engraved it when we got married with our initials, wedding date, and a diamond inlayed
Non material-Addy. Nuff' said.
2. If I could be one age for the rest of my life...
it would be this time, right now...have an amazing husband, amazing daughter, awesome dog...
3. The best way to spend a weekend is:
Hanging out with my family and having a few ice cold beers...a few games of darts with some good music can't hurt.
4. My outlook on life is that life is:
Everything happens for a reason....
5. If you want to annoy me:
Don't be late. Don't complain. Don't whine. Please be a grown up.
6. I am completely defenseless when it comes to:
Cheese. Oh my word. I could eat cheese...blocks of it...for the rest of my life and be a happy woman. And let's be honest, I can't resist an ice cold beer.
7. When dressing for the day one should:
Make sure you do the full length mirror check...please people. Just do it. Dress in what makes you feel good. Dress for yourself.

MIA/ "The Sick House"/ Spring Break 2011
It wasn't until Addy and I had lunch with my mom this week, that I realized just how behind I was on blogging! She said, "I looked at your blog this morning...and you haven't done anything in two weeks!". Oops! What can I say, life has been a little cray cray lately!
Let me explain the cray cray I was referring to...two weeks ago (ironically the last blog I posted) yours truly fell ill. I woke up at 7 am on the dot on a Sunday morning with the dreaded stomach flu. Straight to the toilet I went and there I stayed for the next 48 hours. Let me say this, I had been dodging this bullet at work for the previous couple of weeks, it had been going through our classrooms-students and teachers alike. I am convinced I know exactly who I caught this from...a particular student whose particular parents felt he wasn't particularly ill and sent him to school not one day but two days in a row with said virus. I finally returned to work that Wednesday.
Thursday was our last day before the break and we had a celebratory happy hour at one of our teacher's houses. I felt good enough to go and had a fun time. I was just happy to be feeling well again. That night, 9pm on the dot, my sweet girl woke up with the same particular virus yours truly had. Except hers was projectile vomit. Bleh. Our poor girl threw up all. night. long. Over and over again. That was my "welcome to spring break party". ;) Saddest thing ever to see your little one sicky. She wasn't herself most the weekend. We ended up having to miss my Grandma's 82nd birthday party in Muenster which was a bummer.
Sunday evening, Addy was seeming more like herself. We even ventured out to the field behind our house for some kite flying!
We all felt the need to get out of the "cloud of sickness" this house had become. So we met my parents for dinner at Brooklyns for some yummy pizza. We had a great time. I had also just learned that I was going to see Lady Gaga the next night with Cody. (He had an extra ticket!) Needless to say I was pumped!!!! Rah, rah, ah, ah, ah, Roma, roma, ma.... I even painted my nails electric blue for Gaga! ;)
At this point, as the reader, you are surely feeling bad about all the sickness we had endured. Surely, that was the end of it, right? Wrong. I awoke at 2am with the same stinking virus I just had and Addy jut got over. I threw up all. night. long. First thought was, "seriously??"...second thought, "No Gaga? Noooooooooooo!" (I seriously can't talk about missing the concert...I am still bummed. No, I'm not a huge fan. No, I don't have her cds, iTunes etc. No, I don't know all the words to her songs. I just was excited about the specticle of it all--the show, the people watching, and getting a night out.) I was pretty sick and didn't feel well until Wednesday morning.
So there you have it...the first half of spring break was spent in "The Sick House". Since we were all finally well and half of our spring break was gone, we had no choice but to get moving! Our favorite funky family, The Smo's, came over to see us, we spent a lot of time at the park, lunch dates were had with Grandma one day and Daddy the other, and a huge music festival is where we are heading today. (I'll post about that one later!)
And now on to something that is truly unbelievable...my baby is 21 months old today. What?! 21 months? When...what...how? I'm dumbfounded that we are almost to 2 years old. Man alive! This girl is a rockstar...coolest chick around and I love that she is ours!

Sweet Addy fell victim to my sickness when Daddy dressed her...
