Random happenings!

Life sure is busy these days...cannot believe we are in April already!!  Addy's coach pitch baseball season is underway with two games already played.  She is LOVING it!  Dusty was asked to help with some coaching and it has been so wonderful for me to watch those two together out there.  I've had moments where I've literally teared up...thankful for my sunglasses!  It's been good for Addy's confidence to have her Daddy out there with her too.

My cousin, Eric, happened to be in the area for work recently and so we got a nice surprise visit from him last week.  He came up for dinner and we tried to spoil him (and ourselves) with a yummy steak and shrimp dinner.  It's not everyday that family just happens to be in this part of the country! Haha!!  He was missing his babies pretty bad so Addy and Lila were eager to help him get his baby fix!  I can't express how nice it was to see him and get a little dose of "home"!

When we aren't working or at baseball games these days, we are laying low doing the homebody thing.  It's been beautiful weather up here lately which means we are spending a lot of time outside playing and going on family walks.

Down to 79 days until we head to TEXAS!!!!! Can't wait!

AWOL

Where has the time gone?  I haven't updated this blog since July?  My goodness!

I can't possibly remember all the little things that have taken place in our world since then, so here's a little update on where we are now!

We now have an almost 1 year old and an almost 5 year old under our roof!!  Little Miss Lila Bug is growing so fast.  She is crawling, cruising, playing like crazy, following her sissy around everywhere.  She has got to be the most laid back baby ever.  Nothing phases her.  (Quite the opposite of her big sissy!)  Lila is eating just about everything in sight these days with a side of breastmilk!  (Breast is best! JK!!  Yes, I'm still nursing, and yes, I'm still pumping.  Dusty says I'm a jersey cow; I could feed all the babies in the valley lol!)  She loves loves loves to smile--the child is ALWAYS smiling.  Lila is definitely a Mommy's girl; more than Addy ever was.  If I am in the room, she is on a mission to be near me.  And I'm loving every single minute of it!

Big sis, Addy, is finishing up her last year as a preschooler at Hoops.  I can't even talk about her graduating from Hoops as a lump the size of Texas begins to form in my throat.  They are the best in the business, hands down.  What they have done for our girl and our family is...well, I don't have the words.  She will be attending Kindergarten in August at my lovely little school, Buckley Elementary!  I cannot wait to have her just a few feet away from me!!  Addy is beginning her first baseball season and her first game is Saturday.  It's the cutest dang thing I've ever watched.  She tries so hard and runs those bases with that big ol' helmet bouncing on her head...I. Die.  She is growing into the sweetest, most caring big sissy...this girl loves her baby sis with everything she's got.  In fact, they just started sharing a room and Addy couldn't wait so she could help us "take care of sis"!

The countdown is on again!  We will be heading to Texas in 90 days!!!  Woo hoo!!! We will be there about 9 days and I cannot wait.  It has been far too long!

And I get to do it all with this handsome cowboy...lucky me!

Under the stars!

What a fun weekend we had!  Our mini vacay to the mountains was one of those spur of the moment, last minute trips that turned out to be way more fun than anything we could have planned!  Since Dusty's fishing trip fell through, we decided to head up to Balch Park with Chuck and "the other Dusty" and their families.  We scored an RV from a friend at the last minute too.  (The only way you would have caught me sleeping up there with Lila was going to be in an RV!)  Addy was so excited...and so was Duke!

We got up there late afternoon on Friday and set up camp.  The kids wasted no time getting dirty.  Addy's name this weekend became "the dirty one".  It was clear she wasn't afraid of the dirt because it was ALWAYS all over her...even if I had just wiped her down.  I gave up on keeping her face clean about 2 hours into the trip.  Lol.  Our good friends, the Yorbas, came up Friday evening to roast some marshmallows and let the girls play.  (One of the pluses about living here is that we are only a 45 min drive to the campsite at 7000 ft elevation, so it makes it very easy to drive up and hang out for the evening/ afternoon.)

We fished on Saturday.  The ponds were all super crowded so we didn't catch much, but it sure was peaceful.  The kids, once again, had a blast at the pond.

Lila was a trooper the entire trip; like she was born to camp!  She was so go with the flow the whole time.

The trip turned a little "Griswald" on the way home though!  About 20 minutes into our already slow drive down the hill, a Tahoe coming the other direction took a corner too fast and pinched us against the mountain popping one of the trailer's tires and damaging the rim.  Of course, the spare was not with us.  Oops!  To make matters worse, the cell service is spotty at best.  After calling friends to see if they could come up with a spare and attempting to use Dusty's truck's spare instead, Dusty decided to try the trip down with only three trailer tires.  It worked!  We crawled down the hill and finally made it home 3 hours after we left the campsite!

We definately had a great time and are so glad to have had the RV.  Dusty was so happy to be up there for his birthday where the biggest worry was what kind of beer should he drink!  Duke also was a trooper.  He hasn't moved off the couch since we got back last night.  Poor guy is getting old.  It was a great time and really felt like a little vacation.  We can't wait to do it again!
