I survived! First week of school and Kris's Wedding!

So...its Saturday morning after the first week of school...and I survived...just barely. ;) Not one dinner was cooked this week. All take out and frozen pizzas--too tired to stand in the kitchen and make anything. It was so good to see my little ones again...I missed them. The week was a success over all. I was swamped with things to get done, scheduling, meetings, etc--but I LOVE it. I've decided that I'm one of those people who does better under pressure with a full plate of things to complete. I love being as busy as I was this past week. But I think more than anything, it just re-confirms for me that I am so lucky to be in a position that I love, that I look forward to going to work every morning. Don't get me wrong, it isn't all roses. Things like politics, law makers, budget issues etc tend to have a way of making education harder than it should be. I won't go into detail, but to deal with those kinds of issues day in and day out, making the money we do make, people have to know that the majority of teachers teach because they love what they do and who they do it for--the kids. Teaching is a calling and definately not for the faint of heart. Alright....enough of my soapbox. :)

Last weekend my cousin Kris Anne went from being a Trevathan to a McIntire! All I can say is that my little tomboy of a cousin transformed into a breathtakingly beautiful bride.

Isn't she lovely....

We had a great time at the wedding. It was beautiful. The whole fam was there and, true to tradition, it was one fun party! I am blessed with a huge loving family. The older I get, the more I realize that what we have is uncommon--this little Felderhoff-Fuhrmann-Trevathan clan we have. We run about 50 deep at this point, with Grandma at the helm and Grandpa orchestrating it all from up above. Everyone is there for everyone. When my uncle, Calvin--my mom's brother--passed away, everyone on my dad's side of the family was there at the wake, the rosary, the church service, and the funeral. It was an amazing feeling to look around and see them all there for us. To feel that kind of love and support is like a warm blanket wrapped around you. And thats just one example. Dusty and I had a pretty tough first year of marriage and we always felt the love and support from everyone through it all. It a remarkable bond that we all share. I LOVE my family! We are always looking for excuses to get together...always looking for something to celebrate just so we can all party again. I don't know what I would do or where I would be without my family. I am so blessed.

Back to the wedding....it was a blast! We took the dance floor over in true Felderhoff fashion...dance all nite...and even went to a local bar for post wedding partying! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Back to school...and stuff

I am exhausted. School started yesterday. No kids--just us teachers. My brain is overflowing with information. I haven't had more than 2 hours in my classroom this week to get it ready for my students next week. I'll never understand why we aren't given more time to prepare in the week before school. Could have started last week I guess, but oh that's right, I was still teaching summer school. I was kicked out of my school at 6 last nite which meant I got to do as much as I could from home. I worked until 9:30 and I still have an immense load of work to get done. Despite all of my "tired-ness", I LOVE being this busy. I really do. Crazy huh? I do better when I'm under pressure and going in a million different directions. And...I absolutey cannot wait to see my kids next week! Yay!!!

I went to my cousin, Kris Anne's, bachelorette party this past Saturday. (She is getting married this Saturday, the 23rd! yay!)

Isn't she cute?! My lil bride to be!

The party was a blast! We went to a few places in downtown Fort Worth and danced and laughed and partied all nite long! Can't wait for the wedding!! I would normally put more pictures up here, but my batteries in my camera decided to die after the first shot. :(

Did I ever mention all the bridesmaid dress drama I have had this summer? Well let me tell ya, it the reason I'm ready for these weddings to be done with! (I love my girls and am honored to be part of their big day, but the dresses have done me in!) I was fitted for both dresses back in April--before I became preggers. Getting pregnant and then miscarrying all happened in between getting sized and receiving the dresses. When Alyson's wedding was about a month away, I tried the dress on. It didn't fit--not even close. It was so bad that my Mom and I were convinced that I was sized wrong. We took it to a tailor--she fixed it. I got my dress for Kris's wedding only one week ago. I tried it on and you guessed it, didn't fit either. What was so strange about it all was that the dresses were fitting in the waist, but not in the bust. Weird. We took it the our tailor again. After a beratement from this Vietnemese woman telling me "You need lose weight, you go on diet" over and over again, I'm almost in tears. It took my Mom telling her that I miscarried to get her to shut up. We left and took it to the tailor the dress store uses all the way out in Richland Hills. The whole way out there, my Mom and I are trying to figure out what happened to these dresses. Could my body really have changed that much from being preggers for only 8 weeks? We get finally get out there where they remeasured me. Sure enough, my bust line grew 2 whole inches!! Who knew! Thankfully this tailor was nice to me and didn't tell me how I needed to lose weight, he just worked his magic and got the dress to fit me just right. (after a couple trips to Richland Hills!) Thank goodness! Now you know why I'm ready for a wedding break!

Like I said, I am TIRED. I'm going to bed....

Beach Wedding!!

We went to Port Aransas on Thursday to celebrate Alyson and Danny's wedding. We had a BLAST! When we got there Thursday, we immediately went down to the beach with Alyson for some pre wedding relaxation. Initially, it was just Alyson, Dusty, and myself...oh and don't forget her dog, Diesel. Slowly but surely, others started to arrive. We had a great time meeting her and Danny's family and friends--so great of a time that I think at one point Alyson thought about skipping the rehearsal that evening and going straight to dinner! I swear, she might be the most laid back bride ever. :)
This maid of honor finally decided for the two of us, Alyson and myself, that we needed to at least get showered up for the evening's events. So we made our way up to our rooms. Boo. We wanted to stay on the beach. We all met in the lobby to go through the next day's ceremony. It was the quickest rehearsal I have ever been a part of . She lined us up, said walk, told us to stand, then told us to walk out. I wasn't kidding when I said she was laid back!

We headed out to dinner afterwards where they had yummy steak and shrimp and troughs full of beer! It was pretty close to heaven. :)
Dusty sure liked the beer troughs....;)

The next day was the wedding. We got up and spent most of the day finishing all of the last minute things she needed to get done for the ceremony and reception. Once that was done, we headed up to the room for mimosas--it was time to get ready!

Axe EM!

The ceremony was on the beach...barefoot on the beach and our aisle was the boardwalk. It was so pretty. The sun had just started to set and the wind had died down just enough. It was gorgeous!

The ceremony was short and sweet...I had the perfect view of Danny saying his vows. I saw his chin start to tremble just a bit. It was so sweet. I'm so happy for my best friend, Alyson,--she found a super good guy! Yay for the newly married Glass couple!!!!!

The reception was a blast by the way....the camera didn't make it to that event!! I had to give a toast which I was unprepared for. I thought I heard I wouldn't have to--maybe that was just wishful thinking. Everyone said I did a good job...so maybe it wasn't so bad. We partied and partied til early in the morning!! It was a great time had by all!

Dusty and I took advantage of the beautiful scenery and snapped some shots of ourselves...enjoy!
